Air conditioning installers are skilled professionals specialising in setting up cooling systems in homes, businesses, and industrial facilities. They assess space requirements, select suitable units, and install ductwork as needed. They ensure efficient operation, maintain and repair systems, and may provide guidance on energy-saving solutions for optimal comfort.

Career Options

Graduates of this qualification will be equipped to work as installers of split systems, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems and packaged air conditioning plants and equipment up to 50Kw nominal cooling.

Entry Requirements

  • New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • At least 16 years of age (unless early leaving exemption (ELX) has been granted).
  • While not a prerequisite, it is recommended that people enrolling in this programme hold the National Certificate in Education Achievement (NCEA) Level 2 or equivalent.
  • People enrolling in this programme must hold a relevant position in an air-conditioning installation organisation and have signed a work-based training agreement.
