Fluid Power Engineering Fundamentals Level 3

Fluid Power uses hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems to transmit energy via pressurised fluids, enabling efficient mechanical operations in various industries.

This NZQA-approved programme aims to equip individuals with the necessary knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to work as Fluid Power Technicians. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have the capability to perform a defined range of fundamental Fluid Power tasks with limited supervision.

This training may lead to qualifications in mechanical engineering, such as the New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (Level 4) with strands in Fitting and Machining, General Engineering, Machining, Maintenance Engineering, Metal Forming, and Toolmaking [Ref: 2714].

This qualification may also lead to further higher-level qualifications in trades and management.

Career Options

Graduates of this programme will have the skills and knowledge to work under supervision as entry-level Fluid Power technicians in various areas of specialisation.

Entry Requirements

  • New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • At least 16 years of age (unless early leaving exemption (ELX) has been granted).
  • Be employed in a relevant role in the Fluid Power or Mechanical Engineering sector.
