How metalwork engineering gateway works
Workplace experience
Students complete organised workplace exposure in engineering workshops arranged by the school.
Online theory learning
Unit standard requirements are completed online through Canvas with school visibility of student progress.
NZQA assessment
Students are assessed against Mechanical Engineering unit standards and earn NCEA credits.
Pathway progression
The programme supports informed decisions about apprenticeships, further engineering training or entry-level roles.

ATNZ partners with secondary schools to deliver the Metalwork Engineering Gateway programme, aligned to Mechanical Engineering unit standards.
