Who should attend?

The course is designed for people who are relatively new to undertaking precision measurement and verifying the quality and dimensions of finished products. The course is suitable for people beginning a career as a CNC operator, machinist, fitter turner, toolmaker or quality control specialist.

Learner outcomes

On completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of Quality Control and precision in machining work.
  • Confidently use measuring equipment to check components against drawing specifications, ensuring accuracy.
  • Read and dissect engineering drawings.
  • Correctly set up, check and calibrate measuring equipment.
  • Competently fill out necessary documentation.
  • Work safely applying knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements and using PPE correctly while operating machines.

People enrolling in this course must hold a relevant position in an engineering or manufacturing organisation.

A one-day course with an available online learning component.

This short course provides valuable training in Precision Measurement and Quality Control in Machining, but it is a non-credential training course and will not lead to any qualifications or credentials in the NZQF. In this short course, we'll assess your knowledge through a combination of theory-based assignments and practical tasks that you'll complete in your workplace.
